Happy New Year!
I sincerely hope you and your family had a restful and fun Christmas season. Despite the bitter cold we experienced over the holidays, I hope you had a chance to get out and experience some of the great winter activities in our city. From the Enchanted Forest at the Forestry Farm to the Meewasin Rink downtown, we are lucky to have great outdoor opportunities in a community that experiences all four seasons!
Given that my last newsletter was in August, I’d like to give a shout out to everyone who attended the Ward 10 Community BBQ at the end of summer, especially those who donated their time or supplies to help make the event a success. We had a record turnout of over 1700 people and I felt so privileged to get to chat with so many Ward 10 neighbours. I hope you’ll join me again this year for the BBQ - mark August 22nd on your calendar!
Your City Council was very busy through the month of December with discussions on the 2018 City Budget, fire pit regulations, traffic safety, and taxis and Uber. While some of the debates have been heated with lots of different points of view, I always appreciate hearing from you to guide me in the right direction. We won’t always agree on every issue, but I never forget what an honour it is to be the voice for 30,000 residents in the northeast and for people across our community. While 2017 was a challenging year for a number of reasons, the year to come is shaping up to be an exciting one for Saskatoon. I wish you and your family and healthy and happy 2018 and I look forward to another year of serving you at City Hall.
All the best,
